You don’t need Valentine’s Day to feel loved – Johnny Drille

During the week, singer Johnny Drille released a song called “You are just single” to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The song received mixed reactions from fans, especially a line that reads, “Jesus was worthless”.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Drille argued that you don’t have to have a Valentine’s Day date to feel loved. He said, “I am a Christian and if there is one model that we (Christians) should follow, it is Jesus Christ. Jesus had no ‘Val’ so why should anyone feel sad just because they don’t have one. Really, love is good, but you don’t have to have a date on Valentine’s Day to feel loved. Jesus loves you.”

The singer also said the inspiration behind the song was to let people know it’s okay to be single. He added, “It was a fun song to do. It was just me having fun and trying to let people know it was okay to be single. There is no stigma in not celebrating Valentine’s Day for any reason. I didn’t think it would go viral but I guess there were a lot of people who could relate to it. It’s actually good. I hope in times of loneliness someone will hear him, laugh, and realize he’s still worthy of love, even if he doesn’t get gifts on Valentine’s Day.

Drille also argued that love shouldn’t just be celebrated on Valentine’s Day. He said: “You have to show the people you love that you love them as often as possible. In fact, my debut album, ‘Before We Fall Asleep’ was meant to let people know how important it is to show love to the people around them when you still have the chance. Tomorrow is not promised. Another Valentine’s Day is not promised. What we have is now and we should celebrate love every day.
