Unusual and romantic ideas just in time for Valentine’s Day

The most romantic night of the year is almost upon us – and it’s time to start thinking about what you can give to that special someone in your life.

Chocolates and flowers are always a great choice – not to mention the traditional soppy card – but sometimes it pays to think outside the box and give something a little different.

It could involve cooking a romantic meal or taking a passion for Marmite to a whole new level — there are plenty of ways to go the extra mile on February 14.

We’ve looked at some of the most unusual options for Valentine’s Day or for those looking to cook a romantic meal at home.

Here are some of the things we found:

Cooking pot

Okay, so it might not be the first thing you think of when it comes to romance, but this year Marmite is encouraging people to “spread the love” with this heartfelt gift.

Burton’s best-known food product offers personalized Valentine’s Day-themed jars for those who want to treat their loved ones.

The classic spread got a red makeover, with love hearts and angels displayed on the jar that read, “Valentine’s Day, spread the love this Valentine’s Day.”

Each jar can be personalized to include the name of the loved one, making it a unique gift.

Each jar is priced at £5.49 including postage and packaging and is available now.

They are also available to buy in-store at Tesco.

Marmite also offers a solid silver lid that features a unique engraved Valentine’s Day design with diamond-tipped cookie cutters.

Center stage is your loved one’s name, with a baby Cupid pulling a cloud of floating hearts.

Around the outside of the lid runs the message: “I love you even more than Marmite”.

This one might be a little “out of the ordinary” for some couples, but for those who find it hard to think of anything unusual, a Bonkin’ Bunny vibrator is definitely different.

Poundland in The Octagon shopping center has unveiled its new £5 vibrator at a fraction of the cost of well-known rival versions such as the famous Rampant Rabbit.

The launch, perfectly timed for the most romantic (and vigorous) time of the year, means couples hoping to add some excitement to their boring sex lives can do so without shelling out a small fortune in the process. .

The new item is part of Poundland’s growing line of Nooky sex toys, which also includes items such as Nooky Lube, Vibrator Love Ring and Playful Bullet.

A loved one has told us all they don’t want “nothing” when it comes to asking for gifts, but what if you could actually give a decent gift as a joke?

Poundland offers the ‘gift of nothing’, which it sells as a Valentine’s Day gift, a clear plastic heart containing nothing, although the product’s packaging warns customers that it ‘contains air’ .

Be careful what you wish for this Valentine’s Day

The budget chain, which opened its first-ever store in Burton, promoted the item as a fun gift for anyone whose significant other told them they wanted ‘nothing’ for Valentine’s Day .

The item is on sale for £1 from Poundland stores and the packaging features the phrases ‘exactly what you asked for’, as well as ‘less is more’.

When it comes to meal deals, you can’t beat At Mark and Spencer catering offers as they are guaranteed to be filled with mouth-watering dishes and usually an extra bottle of wine.

The high street retailer in Coopers Square shopping center has raised its standards even higher, launching what might be its fanciest Valentine’s Day meal offering yet.

There is also a vegan menu.

Chips and romance – the perfect combination for Valentine’s Day.

Tyrells, which has a factory in Uttoxeter, has launched the first-ever crisps containing aphrodisiac properties.

The crunchy brand claims its new aphrodisiac strain will “get the pulse racing” on Valentine’s day by combining two simple ingredients – sweet honey and the spicy spice of chilli.

According to Tyrrells both of these ingredients can have a powerful effect on the body, with the honey “tweaking hormone levels” and the chilli triggering nerve endings on the tongue, releasing endorphins and increasing heart rate.

Raspberry Liqueur and Rose Gin

Valentine’s Day is a time to raise a glass to love and what better way to fill that glass than with a very special pink gin – and it’s glittery too!

Asda, which has a store in The Octagon shopping centre, has started selling “Extra Special Raspberry and Rose Gin Liqueur”, priced at just £10.

Shoppers can choose from five main courses, including a beef Wellington, sirloin steaks, mac and cheese and Scottish salmon fillets.

Couples in love can also choose one of two sides – triple cooked fries or greens.

And finally, the dessert includes a raspberry panna cotta or a fondant pudding.

These stunning rainbow roses are something very different for Valentine’s Day and will really stand out.

Morrison in Wellington Road, Burton, is offering the Rainbow Roses just in time for Thursday February 14, priced at £4 each.

It is part of Morrisons The Best range, and they will be available in the Morrison store from Monday 11 February.

Morrisons has partnered with LGBTQ+ homeless youth charity The Albert Kennedy Trust, which provides safe homes and support for young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bi or trans.

He will also see 50p from every rose sold going to charity.

Developped by Morrisons Florists, the roses have been specially dyed so that each petal displays the colors of the rainbow, including brilliant blue, deep pink and bright yellow.

To do this, florists cut rose stems and dip each part in different colored water – which is absorbed by the flower to turn each petal into a different vibrant color.
