Last week: Today, I salute Justice Stephen Breyer, who will retire this year, for his 27 years of service on the Supreme Court of the United States. A Harvard law graduate, Breyer clerked under Supreme Court Justice Arthur Goldberg, was a Harvard professor, wrote historical textbooks, and served as special assistant to the deputy attorney general for antitrust and deputy special prosecutor for Watergate. Special Prosecution Force. I highlight his accomplishments because the news of Justice Breyer’s retirement centers on his replacement, not Justice Breyer himself. Leaving politics aside, let’s celebrate the outstanding career of a lifelong jurist who put our nation first in all his endeavours.
Look forward: Thin Mints, Samoas and Do-Si-Dos are officially on the streets. Yes, it’s Girl Scout cookie time. This year, Girl Scouts, who are dedicated to helping all girls develop the confidence, determination and skills to thrive in today’s world, introduced the Adventureful, a brownie-inspired cookie. with crème caramel and a hint of sea salt. If that’s not reason enough to buy a box (or two or three), then consider this: Sales of Girl Scouts cookies, essential to sustaining the organization, have been pummeled during the pandemic. Buy cookies – there’s no better way to support a non-profit organization.
