And there couldn’t be a better time to revisit these romantic gestures in Bollywood when Valentine’s Day is around. Check out the list below.
1. Dil Chahta Hai
Aamir Khan confessing his love to Preity Zinta is one of the big highlights of the movie “Dil Chahta Hai”, released in 2001. The fun and carefree attitude of Aamir’s character Aakash finally came to a halt when he stopped Shalini’s (Preity) engagement party to propose to her. He literally got down on his knees and expressed his feelings about the character of Preity. After this scene, Aakash had to stop singing “Jaane kyu log pyaar karte hai” (pun included).
Emraan Hashmi’s films are proof that he can woo any girl. ‘Jannat’ is one of them. Do you remember that scene where Emraan spun his car in the middle of traffic and got down on his knees to express his love to Sonal Chauhan? This could be a dream proposition for any girl, but if you don’t want the cops fining you for disrupting traffic, you better not recreate this iconic scene. It is safe to listen to ‘Zara si dil me de jagah tu’ and show off your singing skills to your love rather than flaunting your driving skills in the middle of traffic.
3. Kal Ho Naa Ho
Shah Rukh Khan = Love. It’s Valentine’s Day and it would be a crime if we didn’t mention the king of romance and his iconic “diary” scene from the movie “Kal Ho Naa Ho.” The scene is considered one of the most emotional scenes in the film. For the uninitiated, in the scene, SRK confessed his feelings to Naina (Preity Zinta), claiming he was reading a letter from Saif Ali Khan’s diary. Everything he said comes from his heart because there is nothing written in the diary.
PS Har pal yahan jee bhar jiyo, jo hai samaa, kal ho naa ho ( Live life to the fullest. Tomorrow you may not have the same time as today. So don’t forget to fill your life and that of someone of “love” this V-Day).
4. Yeh JawaHai Deewani
Many thanks to Ayan Mukerji for giving us “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” which has actually helped millennials to maintain romance in relationships. The film mainly revolves around Kabir (Ranbir Kapoor) and Naina (Deepika Padukone). The two were presented as opposites with different outlooks on life. However, things changed for good when they met at their best friend’s (Kalki) wedding after not being in contact for years. The film’s climax made everyone happy when Ranbir showed up on Deepika’s doorstep on New Year’s Eve with balloons and a cake. The moment became more memorable yet funny when Ranbir proposed to Deepika with a fake ring. Isn’t that cute?
5. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
To this day, ‘Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na’ is known for its climactic scene which literally had all the elements of a typical Bollywood movie – a horse, an airport proposal and perfect background music. Yes, you read that right.
In the climactic scene, Imran Khan runs away from prison, sits on a horse, then leaves airport security and expresses his feelings to Genelia Deshmukh with their sung song ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’.
