If you’ve seen the first season of Netflix Bridgerton, then you’ve probably wondered when Bridgerton Season 2 released ?! You are not alone, we asked for it too! We’re dying to return to our favorite regency era series!
Bridgerton marks Shonda Rhimes’ first project under her major Netflix contract. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, all you need to know is that it’s basically Jane Austen who meets Gossip Girl, and it’s just as deliciously addicting as it sounds!
Bridgerton Season 2 release date is approaching
While the Bridgerton The season 2 release date has yet to be made official, the series returns in 2022. The fact that Netflix’s TUDUM event gave a first glimpse of the new season instead of a trailer indicates that production for season 2 is a bit late.
Since there isn’t enough footage for a trailer just yet, we’re betting that Season 2 will release in late spring or early summer at the earliest. But maybe Netflix will surprise us and we’ll have a date with the Bridgertons for Valentine’s Day!
Bridgerton Season 2 Trailer
While we don’t have an official trailer yet, we do get a first look. The clip below was shared during Netflix’s TUDUM event on September 25!
The second season of Bridgerton began filming in the spring of 2021. However, production had to stop in mid-July due to a COVID-19 outbreak on set. Production resumed filming in mid-August and is still ongoing.
At the time of the break, Chris Van Dusen, Bridgertonshowrunner, confirmed that the first episodes have already entered post-production.
Van Dusen also teased next season’s goal, saying: “We’re getting Anthony back after seeing what he’s been through with his mistress. He thinks, ‘Was that love?’ Some would call it that, others not. We explore these concepts of duty and honor again.
The cast and the plot
We know that Bridgerton Season 2 will focus on Anthony Bridgerton. The first news was a bit shocking when the media announced that Regé-Jean Page would not be returning as Simon Bassett, Duke of Hastings. Page was offered a guest role for the upcoming season, but declined the offer.
Fans can expect him to be referenced and can look forward to seeing Daphne and Simone’s baby. But the series will focus on a different love story this season – much like each of the books in Julia Quinn’s book series (which focuses on a different Bridgerton brother in each book).
Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne, will also be back. She commented on the change in leadership earlier this year, saying: “We’re passing the baton to the lovely Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony, and that will be the main storyline for Season 2 and the storyline for the season. 2 The show is centered around the Bridgertons, and there are eight books, and I think fans of the books were perhaps more aware of what was going on than fans of the show.
The new love interest
Simone Ashley (best known for her role in Sex education) joins the cast of Bridgerton for season 2. She will play Kate Sharma (Kate Sheffield in the series of books), the love interest of Anthony Bridgerton.
“Before I knew it, I was going to the studios where we film for fittings,” Ashley commented of her role as Kate. “It happened incredibly fast.”
Ashley also commented on her initial connection with Kate, describing her as “competitive” and “smart”.
“She listens to her own instincts and isn’t easily swayed by what everyone else does,” Ashley continues. “We meet her at different vulnerable times and learn more about her journey and the family trauma she is carrying.”
We’ll meet Kate and her family in the first episode of the new season. Official description of Kate, taken from Julia Quinn’s book The viscount who loved me, reads like “the most indiscreet woman to ever grace a ballroom in London”.
We will also have four new characters, Charithra Chandran will play Edwina Sharma. Edwina is Kate’s younger sister, a newbie in search of her true romantic partner. Shelley Conn will play Kate and Edwina’s mother, Lady Mary Sharma. Then we have Calam Lynch who will play Theo Sharpe. Theo is a relentless print assistant, and finally Rupert Young, who will play Jack. We don’t know much about Jack, as he’s a new character that isn’t in the books. But we do know it has a connection to one of the Bridgertonof the most notable families.
Another cast update of note, Queen Charlotte, becomes his own spinoff series. Although she does not appear in the original book series, her popularity has gained her own series, which is written by Shonda Rhimes. The new show will follow Charlotte’s journey during her youth. And fans can also expect to see a young Violet Bridgerton and a young Lady Danbury in this series.
How many episodes will there be in season 2?
There has been no official announcement yet regarding how many episodes fans can expect in Bridgerton Season 2. But we expect there will be 8 episodes, as there were in the first season. .
Will there be a Bridgerton season 3?
Yes! Not only will Bridgerton Season 3 is happening, but Netflix has announced that Bridgerton Season 4 has already received the green light. There is no shortage of material for the series to shoot. Julia Quinn’s book series has 8 novels. And each of these novels focuses on a member of the Bridgerton family.
Personally, I look forward to Eloise’s story. What about you all? Tell us about your hopes Bridgerton Season 2 plus future seasons in our comments section below! And check back regularly, because we’ll be sharing all the news for Season 2 here as well as the official trailer when it releases!
