Write it down in the history books, folks: On February 14, 2022, Lizzo invented the color red. The “Rumors” singer brought this bold hue to life by stepping out in a sexy scarlet dress on Valentine’s Day. We were so busy admiring the glittering number that we almost didn’t notice the mystery man she was holding hands with as we walked out of Craig’s in West Hollywood. Although his identity and the nature of their relationship are still under wraps, he subtly matched Lizzo with pops of red on his mask and sneakers, so they already have all the coordinated style down to a science if they are indeed a couple.
Anyway, back to the real star of the show here: Lizzo’s dress. Covered in hundreds of tiny rhinestones, the piece features long sleeves, removable gloves, and two sheer front panels. It was custom made by New York-based fashion designer Matthew Reisman, who recently adapted Mary J. Blige’s dazzling Super Bowl halftime show outfit. “The design for this dress grew out of a version of a previous dress design of mine,” Reisman told POPSUGAR. “I recreated a custom version – something that would be uniquely sexy and special for Lizzo. Each time I make a version of this design, I change the style of the cutout illusion so that each dress is unique and not a copy of the other.” He added matching crystal gloves to make Lizzo’s dress one of a kind, just like her.
With input from celebrity stylist Jason Rembert, Lizzo accessorized with matching pointy-toe pumps, diamond drop earrings and a shiny silver bag. Has there ever been a more perfect Valentine’s Day party outfit? We think not. Ahead, watch footage of Lizzo feeling herself in her scorching minidress while out and about with her potential new partner.
