Keke Palmer spent Valentine’s Day at the San Diego Zoo with boyfriend Darius Jackson, but she knows February 14 is different for everyone. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, the “No” actress gushed about the adventure Jackson had planned for them, but she also spoke to her followers about the importance of self-love and the weight of the way things appear on social media. “Valentine’s Day should be different for everyone,” Palmer wrote. “It’s an expression of love and we all have our own take on what it is. I know romance novels and social media can often make you realize what it ‘should’ be like. But as we get older, I think we all realize it’s more about how it feels than how it looks.”
She continued, “So even though people may tell you what you should be doing or how you should be spending the day, I hope your day has been filled with love the way YOU like to receive it! was solo dolo (because sometimes the love you need most comes from yourself).” Palmer then thanked Jackson for this special day and for “always putting together an experience for me that is unique to me.” We always appreciate Palmer sticking with his followers, but this particular post on this particular day resonates deeply, as the comments are filled with appreciation for his honesty and transparency. And Jackson is also grateful. Her boyfriend commented on the post, writing, “One thing is for sure…we are ACTIVE! thank you for being a great companion and always ready to go on adventures with me.”
Their first Valentine’s Day together is shaping up to be special. The two were first suspected of dating in August 2021, when Jackson wished Palmer a happy birthday on Instagram, noting that she had brought out emotions in him that he “didn’t know” was there. had, and it’s clear that Palmer feels the same way. She’s been relatively quiet about her relationships in the past, but fans got a glimpse of their romance on social media over the past few months, and the two are in love. “Without being too soft because I HATE THIS, it’s really nice to not be afraid to show that kind of attention to someone I don’t share the same blood with,” she wrote in October.
Palmer and Jackson have celebrated many milestones together — Christmas, birthdays, they’ve even attended the World Series — and now we can add Valentine’s Day to the list. Kudos to them celebrating love in the way that matters most to them.
