Kate Hudson | Kate Hudson: Strippers in movies shouldn’t be a distraction

Kate Hudson hates when strippers in movies are the main talking point.

The 43-year-old actress plays stripper Bonnie in Ana Lily Amirpour’s sci-fi thriller ‘Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon’, and Kate admits it’s frustrating when star strippers from cinema divert attention from the most important part of a movie.

She told Collider: “I also think movies that have women as strippers, or especially movie stars, it’s boring when they talk about that because that’s not what it’s about. If the movie is really about a certain type of stripper, and you go really deep into what that is, then that’s understandable. If not, and it wasn’t Lily’s choice, but from my perspective, as an actor who’s in the public eye, all of a sudden that’s all everyone’s asking for It becomes a distraction from a real part of the importance of the movie.”

The director opted to have her strippers don bikinis, and local strippers who were extras in the film appreciated her different approach from the male filmmakers they had previously worked with.

She said: “I find it really fascinating that the most valuable currency on earth is sex, and of course men have tried to control that, throughout human history, but it’s still a big economy, like you can see that. It’s a fascinating energy and space to watch this primordial thing play out. What I cling to are the parts like where she wipes the post at the start. It’s the exit and the walk in and stay with the person the next moment A man is I’m going to go right there I could go there if I needed to, but that wasn’t the point of tonight All these girls who were extras in the club are local dancers, and a lot of them came up to me and said, ‘The vibe you have right now is so much more real than when the guys are doing it. They’re doing extras as strippers in a lot of other stuff that’s shooting around town, and they’re like, ‘The vibe here right now is so much more real than it really is. .””
