Undoubtedly one of the most romantic days of the year, Valentine’s Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm by couples. Whether you’re heading out with bae, your girlfriends for a Galentine’s Date party or even going solo, there’s nothing like the perfect hairstyle to do your look.

It’s already common knowledge that a good set of hair can make or break a look. To make sure your hair looks its best and complements your outfit well, Shahnaz Husain told us how to wear today’s best hairstyles that don’t take much time. Here is everything she revealed to us!

The classic ponytail sets the trends. It suits most face shapes. You can wear a high or low ponytail, with or without bangs. You can even have loose locks or curls, with this “carefully careless” look. A ponytail is actually an easy hairstyle. With ribbons, clips or other hair accessories, it can even add a touch of glamour. One can have a ponytail for a formal or informal look. For an elongated face, wear a low ponytail and long, light bangs that fall straight down. For an oval face, wear it with side bangs. For a square-jawed face, drop long curls on either side of the face, just past jawline.

Long hair is very trendy, with cascading waves or curly, bouncy hair. Go for the softer look, with natural curls or waves, in the lower half of the hair.

You can also try braids. In fact, hair can be braided in many ways, also using hair accessories. Long hair can be braided and then pulled up. Or, have the braid on one side, with tiny curls framing the face. Put several braids in a ponytail with ribbons, or make a ponytail leaving a section of hair free. Braid the loose section and wrap it around the ponytail, as if the braid is holding the ponytail.

Ever since the bouffant, which was all the rage in the 60s, is coming back, you can put half your hair in a bouffant, with the rest going down. In fact, the bouffant can be used to add height to a round face. The rest of the hair can fall gently, framing the face.

For curly hair, you can have a side-swept style. What you need are bobby pins to hold the hair in place. Comb the top of the hair and set it as you did. Then take the hair and set it aside. Pin it so it stays on this side. Then part the hair and start loosely putting it in place, one section at a time, and pin each section of curls. Pin it so that the curls fall freely. Continue like this until all the hair is up. Spray with medium hairspray. You can pin a flower to the side if you like.

The more natural look, with an air of ease, is the new trend. Keep hair away from face. If you have short hair, wear it softly and naturally in layers. Even in hair color, natural colors like browns are trending. You can have subtle colors with natural highlights.

Raising your hair can make you look sophisticated, elegant or glamorous. The style is suitable for a gala occasion. With traditional Indian clothing, a jasmine garland can be wrapped around a braid or pinned to one side.

A cropped, cropped look suits most hair textures, including wavy hair. You can have your hair cut in one length, with a parting in the middle and waves on each side. It can give you a “carefully careless” look.

If you have shoulder-length, naturally wavy hair, use a hair dryer to dry the top section of the hair, making it straighter, but let the rest of the hair dry naturally and look naturally wavy. Loose waves would look best.

Short, wavy hair can be pulled up with bobby pins. Comb the top of the hair and set it as you did. Then take the hair and set it aside. Pin it so it stays on this side. Then part the hair and start loosely putting it in place, one section at a time, and pin each section of waves. Pin it so that the waves fall freely. Continue like this until all the hair is up. Spray with medium hairspray.
